If version is V.xxx, no additional steps are needed as this version uses Modern Authentication. Navigate to Archive Accelerator - Task List folder Verify version of on-premises Folder Sync if used: Setting up Azure AD registered app for O365 Sync If Powershell credential + Exchange services credential is seen, O365 Sync is using Basic Authentication, please follow the articles below to use Modern Authentication: If Azure AD registered app configuration is seen, no further action required. Log into Veritas Alta Archiving Administration Portal Verify if Basic Authentication is used for O365 Sync: Please refer to the articles below to configure Modern Authentication (App based) for O365 Sync and/or Folder Sync. Veritas Alta Archiving customers are required to switch to Modern Authentication before Microsoft’s deadline of January 1, 2023, to continue the normal operation of their environment. We highly recommend switching to Modern Authentication as soon as possible to minimize the impact to Veritas Alta Archiving. Veritas Alta Archiving currently supports both Basic Authentication and Modern Authentication to connect to Microsoft 365 tenants. If you have configured Veritas Alta Archiving O365 Sync or Folder Sync to connect to Microsoft 365 with Basic Authentication, your Veritas Alta Archiving environment will be adversely impacted once Microsoft disables Basic Authentication on January 1, 2023. In September 2021, Microsoft announced that effective October 1, 2022, they will disable Basic Authentication for Outlook, EWS, RPS, POP, IMAP, and EAS protocols in Exchange Online with a one time extension available through January 1, 2023. New Microsoft 365 tenants are created with Basic Authentication already turned off as they have Security defaults enabled. ![]() ![]() Microsoft has already started to implement this change. This change by Microsoft requires customers to move from apps that use Basic Authentication to apps that use Modern Authentication. Microsoft is removing the ability to use Basic authentication in Exchange Online for Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), POP, IMAP, Remote PowerShell, Exchange Web Services (EWS), Offline Address Book (OAB), Outlook for Windows, and Mac. This will have an impact on your Veritas Alta Archiving environment if O365 Sync or Folder Sync is configured to use Basic Authentication. As officially announced by Microsoft, Basic Authentication will be disabled in Exchange Online effective January 1, 2023.
